Sergeant Joseph Palermo
Career Overview of Sergeant Joseph Palermo

Sergeant Joseph Palermo was hired by the Niagara Falls Police Department (NFPD) in 2001, where he initially served in the Patrol Division until 2005. At this point, he was reassigned to the Roving Anti-Crime (RAC) unit under the Narcotics Division. During this period, the main goal of his unit was to focus on high-crime areas within the City of Niagara Falls and to adopt a zero-tolerance approach. Additionally, during this time, Sergeant Palermo was selected for the Niagara Falls SWAT team, where he participated in multiple search warrant executions and situations that warranted an Emergency Response.

In 2009, Sergeant Palermo was promoted to Narcotics Detective, where he focused on the investigative side of crime in Niagara Falls. Throughout this time, he was involved in hundreds of investigations and assisted multiple agencies throughout Western New York. In 2018, Sergeant Palermo was assigned to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) federal government agency in Buffalo, New York. Here, he conducted firearm investigations throughout New York, with a concentration in Niagara Falls. During this period, he was part of the Violent Crime Task Force and responded to any arrest within Western New York, aiming to prosecute federally.

Sergeant Palermo retired in 2021 and subsequently began his career with the Youngstown Police Department.
